Tummy Tuck New York City

Before & After

TUMMY TUCK (ABDOMINOPLASTY)

After experiencing pregnancy or weight loss, excess skin and fat can distort the appearance of the abdomen. To give our patients a flatter, firmer abdomen by removing the excess fat and skin and tightening the abdominal muscles, Dr. Joshua Hyman may recommend abdominoplasty, or a tummy tuck, in New York, New York.

Abdominoplasty Surgery

After creating a horizontal incision in the lower abdomen (within the bikini line), the rectus abdominis muscles of the abdomen are tightened and the excess skin and fat are trimmed and re-draped. Most abdominoplasty treatments will require repositioning of the umbilicus (the navel). In a “mini” abdominoplasty procedure, the tightening of the lower abdominal muscle tightening, along with the removal of excess skin and fat, are performed through a small horizontal bikini incision without repositioning the navel. Small drain tubes are placed with both techniques. The procedure averages two hours in length and is performed either in the hospital or in Dr. Joshua Hyman’s private ambulatory surgery facility under anesthesia. Most patients are able to return home the evening of their procedure.

Post-Abdominoplasty Surgery

After surgery, a soft abdominal binder is placed. Most surgical sutures will dissolve, and your drains will be removed 1-2 weeks after your surgery. Patients generally require one week off from work after a tummy tuck. Walking is permitted and encouraged immediately after surgery, but strenuous activity and heavy lifting should not be performed until six weeks following the surgery.
