Some people suffer from profuse perspiration (hyperhydrosis) from their armpits or palms. Such perspiration can cause embarrassment by soaking through clothing in a matter of minutes or making the sufferer reluctant to shake hands. Fortunately, BOTOX® treatments can reduce sweating by 85% or more for months at a time.
BOTOX® is a purified form of botulinum toxin that temporarily blocks nerve impulses. When injected into the skin, it can block the local nerve impulses that activate the sweat glands, thus reducing perspiration. The in-office procedure takes 10-20 minutes to perform and patients can return to their normal activity immediately.
Seven to ten days prior to your BOTOX® treatment, you must stop taking aspirin and blood thinners. This will reduce bruising at the site of injection.
Post-BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections
Patients will see the results of the BOTOX® procedure within 3-7 days of their treatment. BOTOX® treatments last approximately three to four months, although some patients have noticed longer duration with repeat treatments.
