Lip Enhancement

Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon Serving Manhattan, New York City & Nearby NY

Have you ever wanted fuller, more youthful lips? Thankfully, there are non-surgical options available to enhance your lips!

Your ideal filler material may be Restylane® or Juvéderm™, which are made of a natural compound which is normally found in your skin. Alternatively, fat cells may be transferred from another part of your own body. Because your body will eventually absorb the filler, the effects are only temporary, but the procedure can be repeated.

Initial Consultation for Lip Enhancement

During your free consultation with Dr. Joshua Hyman, he will discuss your objectives and expectations for the procedure with you. This will include a complete medical history and an examination of the skin and soft tissue of the lips and surrounding areas. Our plastic surgeon will suggest a procedure that suits you best and answer any questions that you might have.

Injections Procedure

Both Restylane and Juvéderm are injected using small needles into the deep layer of the lips. The skin is “plumped” and creases and fine lines are filled in. For a procedure using fat transfer, fat cells are first harvested from the patient’s abdomen, thighs, or buttocks. They are then prepared and injected into the deep layer of the lips.

The procedure takes about 30 minutes to perform, and is generally done in the office under local anesthesia. The results are visible immediately. No bandaging is necessary, and makeup may be worn the same day. Some patients may experience mild bruising.

Post Injection Procedure

Some patients experience bruising for several days after the injections, and you should schedule your injection at least one week in advance of an anticipated event or meeting. The effects of the injection last between four and six months, although this varies among patients.
